Frequently asked questions

Ceramic Coatings

Why do some offer warranties?

Long story short it is to sell the job. Unexperienced detailers fall for the twisted truth from unaccredited ceramic coating manufacturers. They are told, from companies that have been in business for 2 years, that they have a tested 10 year coating. They pass that information to the consumers. Then if and when the coating starts to fail everyone is pointing fingers at each other. The client didn't care for the coating properly, the installer didn't install the coating correctly and the manufacturer produced a bad batch. A headache that could have been avoided with setting clear expectations through experience.

Does ceramic fade, crack, yellow or peel?

No, ceramic will not Crack, Peel or Yellow. Our products have undergone SGS testing and real-life testing in some of the worlds harshest environments, and surpassed every one of them.

Is ceramic an alternative to wax?

Yes, once ceramic is applied you will never need to wax again. Cleaning your vehicle’s paint is as easy as maintain as your glass/windshield. No need for abrasive washes or any waxes/sealants.

Will ceramic protect my car from scratches?

Yes, after ceramic coating cures is becomes 3 times harder than paint. The coating is much more resistant to scratching. Ceramic Pro is a glass coating, and while glass can still be scratched and chipped, it is much more resistant than your clearcoat.

Durability

How long will the coating last?

Several factors contribute to the longevity of the coating such as sun exposure, use of brushed car washes, proper use of ceramic sealants

Will ceramic prevent water spots?

No, ceramic will not prevent water spotting, but it WILL allow those pesky waterspots to be easily removed without damaging the surface. Because ceramic creates a protective layer over the substrate, it does not allow the minerals to corrode or etch the surface that ceramic is protecting, prolonging the life of your metals, paints, gelcoat, plastics, vinyls etc. ceramic is a silica based/glass product and the glass on your windshield can still get water spots, but it is much more resistant to water spots than your clearcoat.

Will ceramic protect me from rock chips?

Ceramic is a Silica based product, meaning it is a “glass” coating. Ceramic adds some rock chip resistance, but it can still get rock chips from larger stones and high speeds. The glass windshield on your vehicle will still get rock chips, just much less often than your clearcoat.

What can ceramic be applied to?

VINYL/WRAP: Ceramic will protect your vinyl from accidental spills, stains, oil/grime, and UV rays. Ceramic Pro is completely flexible and will not crack or peel from your vinyl. As with all surfaces, Ceramic offers a self-cleaning effect allowing your vinyl to be easily cleaned. Say goodbye to countless vinyl cleaning agents.

GLASS: Ceramic can be applied to all glass surfaces to act as a water repellent.

CHROME: Ceramic does an excellent job protecting your chrome/polished finishes from corrosion, oxidation and discoloration.

PAINT: applying ceramic to your paint is by far the best way to prevent paint from fade over time.

CARPET/FABRIC: Ceramic can be applied to your upholstery to make it stain and spill resistant. No more costly accidents inside your vehicle.v

Application

Can I apply SunCoat to my own vehicle?

No, SunCoat must be applied by trained and certified professionals. This product requires a lot of prep work, strong attention to detail and an understanding of how solvent based coatings work.

Can any detailer apply SunCoat to my vehicle?

No, any detailer, dealership or service center that claims to apply SunCoat without becoming a Certified Installer and listed on our webpage is making a false claim. Please report this shop to our Support Team: (480)-290-2038. No, ceramic will not Crack, Peel or Yellow. Our products have undergone SGS testing and real-life testing in some of the worlds harshest environments, and surpassed every one of them.

How long does the application take?

The process of ceramic coating will take between 1-3 days depending on the condition of your paint, the size of the vehicle and the packages you select. The 1st step is to wash and prep the vehicle. The 2nd step is to correct all the imperfections in the paint such as swirls and scratches. Once the vehicle is properly prepped, a body shop safe prep solvent will be applied to the entire vehicle to get to bare paint. At this stage the coating process will begin, and each panel of the vehicle will have ceramic applied, leveled, and stacked to achieve the package you have selected.

My car has scratches and swirls, can I apply ceramic?

No, our trained and certified professionals are experts in the art of surface correction. Our professionals will restore your vehicle to the absolute best condition they can prior to ceramic application.

Maintenance

What do I use to maintain the coating?

That’s the great thing about ceramic products. Water and a mild soap or dish soap will do the trick. Good bye harsh chemicals, clay bars, etc. Even glass cleaner or a No Rinse lubricant/wash will work to quickly and easily maintain your coating.

Do I still need to wax after installing my ceramic?

No, ceramic products are the permanent replacement to wax and sealants. You can throw those products in the trash!

Does this product require annual servicing?

Yes. To maintain your warranty, you need to attend an annual service. This is to ensure ceramic performs properly for the entire length of the warranty. If an annual inspection is missed, the warranty could be voided.

I just coated my vehicle, how long til I can wash it?

You should wait 14 days before the 1st wash to allow the solvents to outgas and fully cure. If you notice that your car gets water spots, bird droppings, tree sap etc. during these two weeks immediately remove it following our care instructions. Keep in mind the coating is softer during the 14 days so work on the paint very gently.

Ceramic Coating Service in Mesa

Give your beloved car a fresh start! Detail it with a new ceramic coating by the best of the best in town! But what exactly is a ceramic coat? A nano-ceramic coating system is an ultra-durable layer of glass covering every inch of your vehicle’s surface. This acts as a barrier between your paint and harmful elements on the road.

Think of it as a sacrificial layer on your car’s surface to safeguard the paint and clear coat underneath. If you live in an area where winter ice and snow are prominent, this protective layer will make those harsh chemicals easier to remove due to the coating’s hydrophobic properties. Moreover, it acts as an extra shield from environmental pollutants, tree sap, scratches from road salt, grime, dirt, industrial fallout dust, binding brake dust, and anything else that tries to ruin your car’s paint job. Overall, it helps your beloved ride stay cleaner longer!

Permanent Protection

While we know that you sit on the interior most of the time, the exterior also requires extra care. Our Ceramic coatings last up to a Lifetime with proper maintenance and care. We use the finest pro-grade 9H professional ceramic coatings by SunCoat Ceramics. This nano-technology will add incredible levels of depth to the paint along with reliable water repellency. JTM Detailing will apply the coating to the vehicle’s paint, glass, plastic trim, glass windows, rims and can even interior leather and fabrics if asked for.

How We Apply Ceramic Coatings

The application process can be very tedious to do without help, that is why JTM Detailing is here to take care of that for you! JTM Detailing also knows that adequate preparation is critical for a long-lasting coating on top of having the right equipment. That is why before every application, we make sure to understand everything about your car.

The first step is to resolve the car’s paint. We spend a lot of time correcting a vehicle’s exterior before applying the ceramic coat. When needed, we perform paint correction and address any minor scratches, unwanted marks, and faded paint on the surface before applying. The vehicle’s surface must be perfect before applying the base coat as the imperfections will be very hard to correct after the application of the first layer.

Maintaining Ceramic Coatings

For maintaining ceramic coatings we recommend you wash their car regularly utilizing a hand wash. Ceramic coatings on your vehicle require at least once a month maintenance for maximum protection and an enhanced gloss finish. We do not recommend you take your car through a tunnel car wash system as it will put swirl marks in the ceramic coating and ruin the paint job as well as integrity of the coating itself. We offer one free monthly maintenance cleaning for all of our customers who get a ceramic coating applied by JTM Detailing to get you started.

We recommend you to wash the car regularly for proper maintenance (JTM Detailing provides exterior and interior detailing services, check them out

We do not recommend you take your car through a tunnel car wash system as it will put swirl marks on the coating and void the warranty. We offer one free monthly maintenance cleaning for all customers who get a ceramic coating applied by JTM Detailing.

Installing the Ceramic Coatings

When we finalize the correction process, our JTM Detailing technicians apply the SunCoat ceramic coating by hand with a one-inch soft foam applicator. We top off this coat with a special nano-ceramic sealant composed of silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide to give your car an extra layer of immunity. The last step is to ensure the ceramic coat cures for 6 hours to achieve a hydrophobic surface and a permanent bond.

A properly applied ceramic coat will show water beads (a phenomenon that occurs on the body paint when water droplets form on top of the painted surface instead of sticking). We make sure the coating is maintained in a controlled environment during the curing time to ensure proper bonding to the car’s paint.

Annual Inspections & Warranty

Annual Inspections must be carried out by an approved applicator, within 30 days before or after the anniversary date of the last service to maintain the warranty. Failure to undertake an annual inspection within the required period will void the warranty. A fee of $150 will be charged for the Annual Inspection, which includes – Exterior Wash, Decontamination, Application of Topcoat, and Inspection. Warranty terms can be found here (Click Here).
